Biography
James Hwang is Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Cornell University. He graduated from the same department with a Ph.D. degree. After years of industrial experience at IBM, Bell Labs, GE, and GAIN, he spent most of his academic career at Lehigh University. He cofounded GAIN and QED; the latter became the public company IQE. Between 2011 and 2013, he was the Program Officer for GHz-THz Electronics at the U.S. Air Force Office of Scientific Research. He has been a visiting professor at Cornell University in the US, Marche Polytechnic University in Italy, Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, National Chiao Tung University in Taiwan, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, East China Normal University, and University of Science and Technology in China. He is an IEEE Life Fellow and a Distinguished Microwave Lecturer. He is also a Track Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques. He has published more than 350 refereed technical papers and been granted eight U.S. patents. He has researched for decades on the design, modeling and characterization of optical, electronic, and micro- electromechanical devices and circuits. His current research interest focuses on electromagnetic sensors for individual biological cells, scanning microwave microscopy, and two-dimensional atomic-layered materials and devices.

Biography
Dr. Sandeep K. Vashist is the Global IVD Director, Pictor Diagnostics Pvt. Ltd in Germany. After completing his Ph.D. from Central Scientific Instruments Organization, India, in 2006, he was the Bioanalytical Scientist at Bristol-Myers Squibb Ireland (2006−2009), the Team Leader for point-of-care (POC) diabetic monitoring at NUSNNI, Singapore (2009−2012), and the Head of Immunodiagnostics at Hahn-Schickard, Freiburg, Germany. His research outputs include many successful technology transfers; several in vitro diagnostic (IVD) and POC technologies; more than 100 journal publications, 6 patents, 8 book chapters, more than 90 conference publications, many invited/keynote/plenary talks, and 3 forthcoming books. He has constantly received highly prestigious fellowships and awards for scientific research excellence and innovation. He is the Executive Editor, Editorial Board Member and Guest Editor for >10 high impact factor journals (Sci Rep, BB Reports, NPBR, Diagnostics, Sensors, and others). Besides, he is the expert/reviewer/advisor for many international funding agencies, and a consultant for IVD, POCT and diabetic monitoring and management.

Biography
Dr. Shah Kwok Wei lectures for REHDA GreenRE in Malaysia and Visiting Research Fellow of Universiti Technologi of Malaysia, UTM. He is Visiting Professor at Tianjin University of Technology, China. He is appointed BCA Ambassador and a member of SPRING and SGBC technical committees. He served as Technical Consultant for Ascendas Services Pte Ltd, Bronx Culture Pte Ltd and NIPO Pte Ltd. He has done outstanding research work on a novel lowâ€cost highâ€volume aqueous silicacoating technique has been granted a US Patent (US 20130196057 A1). His research paper published by Nanoscale (Nanoscale, Impact Factor=6.739, DOI:10.1039/C4NR03306J) on “Noble metal nanoparticles coated with silica by a simple process that does not employ alcohol†was highlighted by popular online science magazines such as ScienceDaily, Physorg and A*STAR website. Separately, his research on microencapsulated phase change materials enhanced by highly thermal conductive nanowires (Journal of Materials Chem. A, DOI: 10.1039/C3TA14550F, Impact Factor=6.626) led to the development of “Mâ€KOOL†phase change cooling technology, which was featured on Physorg, Channel News Asia, Straits Times, Business Times, TODAY, The Star Online and Lianhe Wanbao. So far, his achievements include 3 firstâ€authored papers, 9 coauthored papers, 1 book chapter, 12 patents disclosures and 1 commercial licensing. He has won multiple awards locally and overseas. In 2015, he was awarded “IES Prestigious Engineering Achievement Awards 2015†by the Institution of Engineers (IES) Singapore. Again in 2015, he was awarded “Young Green Innovator of the Year 2015†under the BCASGBC Green Building Individual Awards at the IGBC Conference. In 2014, his’s phase change technology won two awards at Startup Asia 2014 for “Most Promising Idea†and “Most Attractive for Investment†Awards. Again in 2014, he has been selected as topâ€5 finalist nomination for The IET Innovation Awards 2014 at London, UK (IET, Institute of Engineering & Technology) selected from over 400 entries from 30 countries. He won two “Highly†Commended IET Innovation Award†for both “Built Environment†and “Startup†category. For his studies, he won the JTC Overseas Undergraduate Scholarship to Tokyo University, and followed by A*STAR Graduate Scholarship for his PhD studies at NUS. He will bring along a wealth of industry experience to his new appointment. He worked in the building and construction industry as senior electrical engineer in Jurong Consultants Pte Ltd and Jurong Town Corporation JTC. He practiced as electrical engineer designing high and lowvoltage systems (LV/HV power systems, lighting systems, security systems, lightning protection systems, standby generators, telecommunication systems) for commercial buildings such as IBM Building Phase 2 in Changi Business Park, Ayer Raja Technopreneur Centre and Tembusu Power Substation etc. He is often invited to serve on many public and industry technical committees.
