Dr. Stefan Dübel is Chair of Biotechnology and Director of the respective department at the Technische Universität Braunschweig, Germany. He further serves as director of the technology transfer unit "Centre for Molecular Engineering" of iTUBSmbH. Prof. Dübel serves in boards of scientific journals and as consultant to biotech and pharma companies. Further, he is initiator of the "Antibody factory" of the German National Gemome Research Network and editor of the four volume "Handbook of Therapeutic Antibodies" and other antibody engineering books. He is co-founder of several biotech companies, most recently of the human antibody provider Yumab GmbH

Biotechnology

Dr. Dongyang Li is a Professor at University of Alberta. His interests of research include surface science & engineering, nano-materials, tribology, computational materials science, and biomedical engineering. Dr. Li obtained a B.Sc. in Solid Mechanics from University of Science and Technology China (1982), a M.Sc. in Solid-State Physics from Zhongshan University (1985), a PhD in Materials Physics from University of Science and Technology Beijing (1990) and a PhD in Metallurgical Engineering from McGill University (1995). Before joining U of Alberta in 1998, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Pennsylvania State University (1995 – 97). He is an Adjunct Professor in Dept. of Biomedical Engineering, U. of Alberta, a visiting professor at the National University of Singapore (2004, 2012) and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (2011), a visiting scientist in the Biophysics Lab of National Institute of Communication Technology (2005, Japan), and a foreign doctoral advisor at the Harbin Institute of Technology. Dr. Li is on the editorial board for eleven technical journals, and has in excess of three hundred technical publications.

Surface science & engineering, nano-materials, tribology, computational materials science, and biomedical engineering

Distinguished Professor Dr. Digvir Jayas was educated at the G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology in Pantnagar, India; the University of Manitoba, and the University of Saskatchewan. Before assuming the position of Vice-President (Research and International), he held the position of Vice-President (Research) for two years and Associate Vice-President (Research) for eight years. Prior to his appointment as Associate Vice-President (Research), he was Associate Dean (Research) in the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences, Department Head of Biosystems Engineering, and Interim Director of the Richardson Centre for Functional Foods and Nutraceuticals. He is a Registered Professional Engineer and a Registered Professional Agrologist.

Dr. Jayas held a Canada Research Chair in Stored-Grain Ecosystems for seven years. He conducts research related to drying, handling and storing grains and oilseeds and digital image processing for grading and processing operations in the Agri-Food industry. He has authored or co-authored over 800 technical articles in scientific journals, conference proceedings and books dealing with issues of storing, drying, handling and quality monitoring of grains. He has collaborated with researchers in several countries but has had significant impact on development of efficient grain storage, handling and drying systems in Canada, China, India, Ukraine and USA.

Dr. Jonghwa Kim completed his PhD in 2003 from Technical University Berlin. Until then, he completed his Diploma, MSc. and BSc. from Technical University, Kyungwon University respectively. Finally he obtained his Habilitation in computer science from University of Augsburg, Germany.He served as the visiting Professor at National Institute of Informatics (NII), Tokyo, Japan in 2006. Presently he is serving as an Associate Professor at University of Augsburg, Germany. He was also awarded Young-Scholar-Fellowship during his Doctrate. He has published a no. of articles as well as Books and editorials.

Lucian Baia (born in 1971) received the license degree in Engineering from the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania, in 1995, and the license degree in physics from the Babes-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca, in 1998. He earned the master’s degree in physics of the oxide materials in 1999 from the Babes-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca and his PhD degree in 2003 at the Julius-Maximilians University Würzburg, Germany. In 2003 he began the academic career as lecturer at the Faculty of Physics of the Babes-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca. Between October 2005 and July 2006 he worked with Prof. Jürgen Popp’s group as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Friedrich-Schiller University of Jena, Germany. Since 2008 he became associate professor at the Department of the Condensed Matter Physics and Advanced Technologies of the Babes-Bolyai University. He is author or co-author of more than 60 peer-reviewed publications, three books and two book chapters.

Andrey Gorodetskiy is Doctor of Sciences (Engineering Sciences), Professor, Honoured worker of science of the Russian Federation, Academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences Currently; he is Head of laboratory at IPME RAS and a Professor at Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University. He is a member of professional organisations, an auditor for quality of research and education and co-author of over 180 papers and 100 patents. Editor “Smart Electromechanical Systems” in series “Studies in Systems, Decision and Control” (Springer) and Review Editor in the Section Biomedical Robotics of Frontiers in Robotics and AI (Switzerland) He is also a Visiting Professor along with other universities like State Technical University. Le Quy Don (the Republic of Vietnam, Hanoi), Belarusian-Russian University and other. He suggested a new direction in the development of cyber physical systems, namely, Smart Electromechanical Systems (SEMS). SEMS are used in intelligent robots. They are based on the principles of adaptability, intelligence, biomorphism of parallel kinematics and parallelism in information processing and control computation.

Biomedical Robotics

Nikolay Korenevskiy is the Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Kursk State Technical University, Russia (2003). He received awards such as medal for success in development of national economy in 1978; silver medal for success in development of national economy in 1985; medal for merits in the field of ecology in 2001; and Branch Award of Education Department of Russian Federation Honourable Worker of higher professional education of Russian Federation in 2007.

His research interests include biomedical engineering, biophysics, acupuncture, fuzzy logic decision-making, medical and ecology information systems.

Riad Taha Al-Kasasbeh has an MS in Engineering Science and PhD in Controlling of Biological and of Electronic Equipments. Currently, he is an Professor at Al-Balqa University. He is a member of professional organisations, an auditor for quality of research and education and co-author of over 80 papers (Editions: Springer,Elsevier, IEEE, France Taylor, IASTED,etc.). He is also a Visiting Professor along with other universities like Philadelphia, University and Konstanz University (HTWG), Germany. He was a Research Fellow of DFG at (HTWG).

His research fields cover modelling and simulation of man machine systems, EEG signal processing, biomedical design instrumentation, biophysics and acupuncture.
